 Happy New Years!Being that I have not posted at all in 2014, I thought it better late than never! I've never claimed to be stellar at blogging. In fact, since I've started my business I think I've had at least 3 or 4 blog posts about how I am actually rather horrid at blogging. Its not that I lack ideas; it is the timeliness of the blog that I struggle with, I have great posts that come to mind as I am shooting or driving home and then, as life goes, I walk through the door have to answer emails, cook dinner, do laundry edit photos and by the time I am done blogging just does not sound as fun as sitting down to watch a movie (that never starts before 11pm) or just enjoy a conversation ...

A Real Smile. {Garrett}
Friday, August 02, 2013

Meet Garrett. This kid and I go way back. I think that is one of the BIG things that I love about my job. I have been able to photograph so many people that I have known personally and watched them grow up. It is always mind-boggling when I get a phone call asking me to take their senior photos.Now. There are a few things that you need to know about Garrett, I don't usually give much information about my clients, but Garrett is different. In more ways than one. He is one of my best friend's brother and I consider him family, he loves trains - Thomas the Tank to be specific, - his favorite movie is currently Dumbo and Garrett has Autism.This poses as a challenge because he poses. ...

Eight years. One Photoshoot. Jenna + Josh
Sunday, July 07, 2013

Jenna and Josh.They are such a wonderful couple and just work. Every couple has their differences, they are individuals of course and Josh and Jenna do not see eye to eye when it comes to photos.Like every girl, she wants some type of visual proof that they are in fact a couple. Josh does not want any photos of him taken ever; with or without a cute girl hugging on him. I seem to know several girls on the battlefront of this social media war. Since Facebook came about so many girls see their other friends posting cute photos with their significant other. I don't really have an opinion either way. I don't know if I need to have photos posted all over the internet, but I do also appreciate ...

Half naked, muscles and downtown Denver. Which of these things is not like the other?Rob came to me in need of headshots for his profiles. He is an actor, and a pretty good one if I do say so myself. He has been working extremely hard to get his body in to the best shape he could. Suprisingly, a year ago he suffered from a very painful rugby injury where he could not use the left side of his upper body. And now he is back and better than ever. So, we had to photograph his achievement. We threw him in the back of the car with basically his entire closet in the back of the car and set off for urban. And of course there was some rugby in the mix as well as a lake. Who says head shots ...

The Zone.
Sunday, June 30, 2013

I stepped out of my zone. Sort of.The Johnson family invited me into their home to photograph their new daughter Melody. We had a lot of fun just hanging at their house. I love photographing people where they are most comfotable. You are able to see so much deeper into who they are, just because they are in familiar surroundings. It takes an element of stress or awkwardness out of the shoot.However in doing it this way I had a challenge. I had to recreate a studio photo that was taken of their older daughter Natalie when she was just 3 months old.I am not a portrait studio. I don't claim to be. I don't want to be. Posing kids with pumpkins and wagons with them clapping their hands and ...
